3 Department of Pharmacology, University of Massachusetts Medical School, Worcester, USA
Containment level: This strain has been assigned the containment level Class 1 following the European Directive 2009/41/EC on the contained use of genetically modified organisms, and its updates (see also the Belgian risk group classification).
Other culture collection numbers:CGSC 5127
DSM 18040
Medium: LB-Lennox
Selection marker: /
Temperature: 37°C
Genotype: F- λ- thr-1 araC14 leuB6(Am) fhuA31 lacY1 tsx-78 glnX44(AS) galK2(Oc) galT22 dcm-6 dam-3 thiE1 (Source: CGSC 5127)
Phenotype: -
Properties: -
Further information: This strain carries dam-3, a rather unstable allele.

If dam- is required together with the dcm- allele, dam-4 or dam-13::Tn9 would be more recommended. An alternative strain would be Escherichia coli K12 GM2198 (LMBP 4435) which is dcm-6 and dam-13::Tn9.
